VWBPE will be happening in July 2013

It’s been announced in the NPC meeting this week that VWBPE will be hosted this year in July 2013. This year will mark it’s 6th annual conference in Second Life and it’s set to be bigger than in previous years. More details will be announced very soon relating to VWBPE 2013.

Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education is a global grass-roots community event focusing on education in immersive 3D environments. This open “indie”conference is organized by educators to provide an opportunity to showcase the learning that takes place in this community of practice. All  educators are encouraged to present, attend and take part in this discussion of collaborative deeper learning and co-presence  in virtual worlds and games.

Last year the theme was Be Epic and there were five regions to visit to listen to many keynote presentations from the Second Life community. Hundreds of avatars attended VWBPE 2012 and hopefully there will be more during the VWBPE 2013 this summer.

  1. John “Pathfinder” Lester, THE SL edu guru from the 2010 demised Teen SL grid, has been a Gamer on Steam since 2004, and owns 115 games there http://steamcommunity.com/id/dangerdiabolik/

    Convergence Culture works indeed…

Yet, why did no one know about Pathfinder’s yearlong convergence behavior… why was SL’s Vendor Lock-in behavior staunchly hidden and antagonized in a somewhat edu sectarial manner… why doesn’t Reactiongrid, the new workplace of Pathfinder, respond to questions relating to Vendor Lock-in…

Will the Vendor Lock-in legacy repeat itself in VWBPE 2013… Vendor lock-in may be deemed as an OECD Consumer Detriment for the evolve of an Education Grid…
