342,576+ USD raised so far for Relay For Life in SL 2012


Apparently 342,576+ USD has been raised so far for this year’s 2012 Relay For Life event in Second Life which is fantastic news.The RFL sims in Second Life are still open with donations still being received via kiosks and vendors. Check out the RFL SL website for live USD stats and more interesting RFL pages.

  1. This is really amazing Daniel! For some reason I had the impression that the various fund-raisers in SL were great for publicity and emotional connection, but that they didn’t really raise “real” money for their causes… but fair to say, THAT’S REAL MONEY!!

    So awesome! Congratulations to the huge numbers of peeps who came together to make something this extraordinary happen!

  2. I didn’t have a chance to attend the actual RFL, and I’m just taking a peek now. The “real” money is a real achievement, the course is beautiful, and the luminarias are simply leveling in their emotional power. As you know, there’s that never ending debate as to whether or not that world that isn’t the “real” world is therefore the “fake” world… and among the other achievements this event, for me, just puts that old argument to rest. The virtual RLF isn’t any less meaningful, powerful, or important that the Physical or “real world” RFL.
