Since the start of 2024 there has been good positive net growth in terms of Private Estates and Linden Owned regions. It’s good to see Second Life growing again and hopefully this will continue for the rest of 2024 into 2025.
Back at the start of 2024 there were 27, 746 total main grid regions (as of 7th January 2024) and the latest statistics just published shows that there are now 27, 981 total main grid regions as of 7th April 2024. There are now 19 regions to go until Second Life reaches the 28, 000 regions mark.

Most of the growth has come from new Linden owned regions being added to the Bellisseria continent in recent weeks/months especially for the expansion of the Ranch sub continent (far north west corner) and the Mediterranean sub continent (north part). It’s expected there will be at least another 50-100 new LH regions during the next 3-6 months if the current trends continue. There would be double that or triple that if the lab announced another new Linden Home theme then released it soon after. No new Linden Home themes so far in 2024.
Private Estates in Second Life so far in 2024 has shown positive growth which is great news. During 2023 it was a rough year for Private Estate growth on the grid for a variety of reasons including the cost of living and many showed a lack of interest in getting Private Estates.
Hopefully the grid will continue to show more positive net growth for the rest of 2024. Second Life is still going strong after almost 21 years. All statistics in this blog post are from the Second Life grid survey.
