RFL of SL Kickoff 2014

This weekend marks the official kick off of the 2014 Relay For Life of Second Life season and it’s set to be the biggest ever. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Relay For Life of  Second Life so it’s extra special this year with hopefully even more new records being set.

In the past 24 hours or so fund-raising tools have been sent out and event boards have been making the rounds across the grid. The theme for 2014 is “A Journey of Promise” and there will be four main RFL Kickoff sims this year. The sims are not yet open and please see below for opening times.

I’m looking forward to the kick-off celebrations this weekend and can’t wait to explore the sims. The events sound promising and exciting so I’ll try to attend them. I’ll be uploading snapshots to my SL Flickr stream during the weekend, so stay tuned for that. 🙂

Linden Lab announces JIRA changes are now live

Linden Lab have announced that JIRA changes have now gone live which is great news and it’s been long awaited. The new changes make the bug reporting system a “more transparent and productive experience”. This is a good move by Linden Lab and a positive step in the right direction. Visit the SL JIRA here.

What’s the new changes ?

  • All users will be able to see all BUG issues, all the time
  • All users will be able to comment
  • The “New Feature Request” is back!

The blog post reads this…

As we blogged about last week, we’re making some changes to our JIRA implementation to make our bug reporting system a more transparent and productive experience. We just wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that these changes are now live!

One of the questions we’ve seen in the past week is how previously submitted issues would be treated – namely, will those also be viewable by everyone and open for comment prior to being triaged?

While we want to make issues visible for the reasons described in our last post, we’re not going to extend this to old issues, because at the time they were created, users knew that those reports would have limited visibility and they may have included sensitive and/or private information. We don’t want to take information that someone thought would be private and suddenly make that visible to everyone, so the new visibility settings will apply only to new issues.

It’s officially open again, yay. 😀
