Apple Rejects iOS Version Of The Second Life Mobile Client

According to this week’s Web User Group (WUG) meeting held on Wednesday 7th October 2020 it appears that Apple rejected the first submission iOS version of the Second Life mobile client. For some reason it did not meet the requirements.

Linden Lab are now working to address the issues as part of Apple’s review process and when that is done then the iOS version will go through Linden Lab QA process. After that then the IOS version can be re-submitted to Apple for approval for a 2nd time.

Once the iOS version of the Second Life mobile client is on the App Store listings then it will go from the closed alpha phrase to the beta phrase most likely. The Android version is still behind the iOS version and is still being developed. I would imagine early 2021 we would see the Android version approved. Maybe late November or December for the iOS version if Apple gives the green light. Who knows!.

What to expect from the first release of the iOS Communications App

It’s important to understand that the first release of the iOS version of the Second Life mobile client will not have full capabilities like world rendering, purchases and more. Over time the app will have inventory management, group chat and more features. The app will be used for those that want to stay connected on the go rather than using it at home.

This is a delay for sure but hopefully everything can be resolved before the end of 2020. That depends on Apple of course.
