SS Galaxy closing down in Second Life on 3rd May 2015

DBDigital Epsilon who is the managing director of the SS Galaxy cruise ship in Second Life announced on Sunday 26th April 2015 that the ship will be closing down on Sunday 3rd May 2015. This is extremely sad news and it will be deeply missed within Second Life. The reasons for the closure are due to incidents during recent months and are complex apparently. Tier problems is not the issue this time for the closure.

For those that have not yet visited the SS Galaxy is a full scaled and full featured cruise ship in the southern Blake Sea that expands three regions with eight decks of great entertainment.

Dear Supporters and Friends of the SS Galaxy,

The Management and Crew of the SS Galaxy would like to thank each and every one of you for helping make the Galaxy community one of the most thriving, vibrant and welcoming on the Second Life grid.

Together with your help, we have been building wonderful memories since February 2007.

All good things must come to and end, and in the Galaxy’s case, we will be closing the ship on May the 3rd. All current renters will receive a 100% refund of your most recent payment. Please help us by picking up all your items as soon as possible; before the 3rd we will be doing room by room returns throughout the week as well if anything is left.

For us as the Crew, the privilege has been ours to meet and interact with each of you over these eight years. The memories we have from these experiences, will continue to inspire us and our values, long beyond 2015.

Many of you have become more than our cabin tenants – we consider you a part of the Galaxy family as well  🙂

In the many diverse strands of lifestories, God has granted us the blessing of having our respective stories intertwine, at least for a time.

As we prepare to go on beyond April 2015, the Crew wish you that the strength in bonds will continue to sustain each and every one of you, along life’s way.

2015 Fantasy Faire in Second Life has opened

 

The seventh annual Fantasy Faire in Second Life has officially opened it’s doors to the public and this event is one of the most popular events of the year. Fantasy Faire runs through until 3rd May 2015 featuring the best fantasy designers on the grid to help support the American Cancer Society.

The portals to the Fairelands are now open, the camouflage enchantments dispelled, the whole continent of fantasy worlds awaits visitors to come and explore, enjoy and perhaps shapeshift into one of the Faire Folk.

There will be live music, hunts, auctions, concerts and much more happening during the days ahead. This year there are 13 regions to explore and enjoy. Start your adventures at the Fairelands Junction and get ready to be amazed. 🙂

SL12B Community Celebration applications are now OPEN

Exciting news today is that the SL12B Community Celebration applications have now officially opened, see here. If you are interested in giving a presentation, performing, building an exhibit or volunteering at SL12B then now is the time to apply. This will be the biggest birthday party on the grid and everyone to welcome to attend.

The SL12B Community Celebration starts from Sunday 21st June through until Sunday 28th June 2015. The theme for SL12B Community Celebration is “What Dreams May Come”. Read more about the theme choice, see here. Press Day for SL12B willl be held on Saturday 20th June 2015.

“From June 21 to 28 attend performances at our 4 stages venues, stop by the auditorium for talks, interviews, fashion shows and performance art. From June 29 to July 4, view exhibits and the stages across 15 sims.”

Exciting news for the TanGLe Grid on OpenSim

Leslie Kling who is the owner of the Opensim TanGLe Grid sent me an update via email today on some exciting news happening on the grid. See below for the exciting news including a free land offer, great region sales, private isle amusement park and the upcoming fashion expo events.

Back in November 2013 I logged into the TanGLe Grid for the first time on OpenSim and I wanted to try it out. See below for the grid stats back then and now.

Grid Stats (26th November 2013)…

• Total Users: 134
• Total Regions: 43
• Unique Visitors last 30 days: 58
• Online Now: 1

Grid Stats (22nd April 2015)…

• Total Users: 519
• Total Regions: 78
• Unique Visitors last 30 days: 165
• Online Now: 22

The grid has increased it seems in terms of regions and users since 2013 from looking at the grid stats sections above.  Here are the latest exciting updates on the TanGLe Grid. Spread the word! 🙂

GREAT FREE LAND OFFER
We are offering FREE land to newcomers to TanGLe Grid. You will have a nice lot with 478 prims to make your home a nice one.
How Do I Get My Free Lot? Easy. Register or login to TanGLe Grid go to Shores Oasis or Shores Haven Regions. Take a look around. You see a lot (land) you like, look for the sign post, click on the box and your done. That easy.

GREAT REGION SALES
You want region of 20,000 prims at a great low cost? TanGLe Grid is having a few region sales over the next couple months. We don’t just do 20,000 prims but a varity of different prims count region. Prices vary depends what your needs are. Ask IsambardKingdom Brunel or Leslie Kling in world for a list of what we have to offer. We also are doing VAR regions (2×2).

PIRATE ISLE AMUSEMENT PARK
We have updated our amusement park to be more lag friendly and have added a few new rides.  Some of our rides are still being worked on but alot of them are working so you can have alot of fun. We have placed it on a 2×2 VAR region so alot to see and enjoy.

FASHION EXPO EVENTS
We are having LIVE DJ’s perform Friday & Saturday during the Fashion Expo (May 2nd till June 7th 2015). DJ Leslie, DJ BJ, DJ Feel and DJ SheriffDawn. We will post in our events what DJ at what time.
Everyone is welcome to both EXPO & the LIVE DJ’s.  Hypergate Travelers are also very welcome to join us.

SL12B information coming soon, stay tuned

Apparently there will be information being released soon on the Second Life 12th Birthday. Today a group notice was sent out by Doctor Gascoigne informing everyone that SL12B is coming and for everyone to join the SLB Community Celebration group.

Apparently volunteers, exhibits, performance and greeting info will be posted shortly with key dates for SL12B. The SL12B regions have already arrived and it’s not known what the theme will be this year. Also it’s not known yet whether or not Linden Lab will support SL12B. Since SL9B (2012) it’s been resident supported and it’s worked rather well over the years.

Stay tuned for more updates on SL12B in the days and weeks ahead. Yay! 🙂

Raglan Shire region closing down on InWorldz

 

Raglan Shire of InWorldz 2015

The well known Raglan Shire region on the InWorldz grid will be shutting down around the 15th May 2015. The announcement came from Zayn Till on 10th April 2015 who is the founder of the Raglan Shire of InWorldz. This is really sad news to hear about and this will be a huge loss for the InWorldz community for sure.

Thought I’d pop in to make the announcement that Raglan Shire is going to be closed.

The sim will remain on the grid for another 5 weeks & then be shut down (Around May 15th-ish).

This will give everyone enough time to take up any no-copy items or builds (or anything really) if necessary.

While very sad, the sim really hasn’t been utilized & I’d rather not continue to accept donations just to make tier if this is the case.

I have nothing but respect for the Inworldz grid. The founders & people behind the scenes make this grid fantastic. A big thank you for all the hard work you did for Raglan Shire personally, in the beginning.
You are the best.

Special thank-you’s as well to Etheria, Oceanoz, Liandras, Caleb & all the folken who helped bring the tree to life as well as maintain it.

It was glorious.

The Fantasy Faire 2015 in Second Life will be opening to the public on 23rd April through until 3rd May 2015 and the excitement is building up for the event. This year marks its seventh year and this event is one of the most popular events of the year. .

Fantasy Faire 2015 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world.

My new snapshots of the Kitely Welcome Center

Check out my new snapshots of the beautiful and welcoming Kitely Welcome Center. Snapshots were taken on 12th April 2015 on the Kitely grid. The Kitely Welcome Center opened back in September 2013 and it still looks great today I think.

There are info boards, freebies, a showcase of worlds/stores to visit and much more around the Kitely Welcome Center to see. There are regular Kitely Community Meetings that take place to discuss user requests, issues and upcoming features. Keep updated on all things Kitely!
