Second Life User Daily Concurrency & Land Area Stats – Mid June 2024 Update

These are the latest user daily concurrency stats and grid size stats by land area as of Sunday 16th June 2024 for Second Life. As many know Second Life will officially turn 21 on Sunday 23rd June 2024 and SL21B celebrations start on Friday 21st June for a whole month.

The Second Life user daily concurrency has been flat during the past 6 months or so with some high peaks of 50, 000+ every month. Between 2020 – 2022 the Second Life user daily concurrency was slightly better reaching highs between 55, 000 – 57, 000 (average). Last year for 2023 the Second Life daily concurrency was struggling just to reach 54, 000 a month. So far in 2024 there really has not been any massive peaks to blog about.

Since the start of June it appears the grid has lost 43 regions this month due to drop in Private Estates. Hopefully there will be some growth again soon and stay above the 28, 000 regions mark.

The highest peak for June 2024 so far is 50, 102 which was recorded on 3rd June.

OpenSim active users hit all-time high in June 2024

On 15th June Hypergrid Business announced that “OpenSim active users are up by 1,039 this month, reaching a new all-time high of 48,234”. OpenSim land area increased this month by 489 standard region equivalents. There was a large decline in the total number of registered users on all public OpenSim grids which fell by more than 10, 000 since May 2024. The reason for the drop was because the 3rd Rock Grid officially closed down.

Hypergrid Business now tracks 2, 663 public grids of which 309 are active. Apparently 253 OpenSim grids published their statistics this month. The OSgrid still has the most land area with 32, 547 standard region equivalents which is actually larger than Second Life has with just 28, 040 regions in total as of 16th June 2024. The Wolf Territories Grid has the most active users with 6, 232 active users this month,
