1 year later since the SSP regions first appeared on the grid

80 SSP regions arrived on 20th August 2018

It’s been one year since the first batch of 80 SSP regions arrived on the grid. Back then all we was told it was a Super Secret Project. Many speculated it could be the start of a new continent or perhaps Linden Realms or Horizons etc.

The day after I first blogged about the new batch of regions a new forums thread named SSP? was started. A year later and the thread is still active with 110+ pages. It’s a good place to get first previews of new developments happening. Soon after that the lab did set up a new Linden Homes sub forum.

The Second Life Grid Survey picked up the new SSP regions on 19th August 2018. I discovered the regions on the map the day after on 20th August 2018 with many others. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. Woooot!!

The excitement happened about a few weeks later when more regions were added. This then became the working grounds for the LDPW Moles to start preparations for the new Bellisseria continent. Yay!

In September 2018 the SSP continent grew from 80 regions to 384 regions. New roads, lakes, housing blocks and houseboat slips were put in from October 2018 onwards.

Terraforming changes – 2nd September 2018
New areas appeared – 1st October 2018

Between October 2018 and January 2019 hundred’s of small dots started to appear across the SSP continent. The new Linden homes foundations were put in. The houseboat slips were built around the outside during this time period.

16th January 2019

The SSP continent started to take shape during February 2019 with even more developments going on. Two new small islands appear on the east coast of the continent along with a new message.

19th February 2019

At the end of March 2019 the top half of the SSP continent was copied over and placed between the Sansara continent and the Jeogeot continent. Tons of water regions connected the north and south of the new continent making one huge super continent.

First preview of the new Linden homes

In mid April 2019 Linden Lab officially launched the new Linden Homes for Premium users. Here is the first snapshot I took of the new continent map on opening day. The first visitors and new homes being released.

More Linden Homes and Houseboats

17th August 2019
Bellisseria Map – 18th August 2019

Between June 2019 – August 2019 the Moles have been working hard on building the central parts of the continent. There are now more Linden homes, houseboats, a new airstrip/fairgrounds area and new underwater areas. More work is planned in the weeks and months ahead.

The Moles are now working on the new Pickle island which is due to be completed next month. The new trailers is being worked on and should be released very soon. The top half of the Bellisseria continent is now online and hopefully the bottom half of the continent will come online before the end of 2019.

Key Moments During The Past Year

It’s been a very busy first year with developments, music events, new groups forming and plenty of discussions on the forums. It’s been great to follow the latest developments and discover new areas. I’m looking forward to see what will happen next.

A very well done job by the Moles and Lindens so far. Woooot!!!

Squishy Pickle II Arrives Next To The Bellisseria Continent

Squishy Pickle II has arrived

Within the last 24 hours or so the Bellisseria Continent has increased it’s land mass again by 40 new regions with a huge new addition of Squishy Pickle II regions east of the new continent.

This is very exciting news for the whole Bellisseria community. The top part of Squishy Pickle II the Moles have already built new homes, houseboats and some of the roadways. There are new water lakes going down south. Can’t wait to see what else the Moles build have in the works next.

New water lakes, new houseboats, new areas and a new lighthouse

Squishy Pickle II comes at a excellent time because the Bellisseria continent (known as SSP back then) first appeared on the grid back in mid August 2018.

New Costner Bay Airstrip Area Discovered

First landing at the new airstrip

A new airstrip has appeared in the Costner Bay area on the new Bellisseria continent featuring a huge open area and docking point. It’s not yet known what else will be added here at this stage.

At the moment there are no rezzing areas so it’s probably best to travel in from somewhere nearby. The area does not yet show on the map. I would expect it will show within the next day or so.

More new Linden Homes and Houseboats have been built within the past week. I would imagine the third batch will be released before the end of June 2019.

New Green & Red Squares Show Up On New Houseboats Expansion

It appears the Moles and the lab are giving out a clear signal over at the new SSP development area which is located south of the original SSP continent. When completely zoomed into these regions there are new green and red squares in every region.

These are good indicators on how things are coming along. Currently there are 40 regions in this new expansion that have houseboats on it is believed. Now 33 regions are marked as green meaning they are ready and 7 regions are marked in red meaning not ready yet.

The second batch of new houseboats are almost here. I think they will be released sometime within the next few weeks. There is high demand out there and many are excited about the new release happening soon. The Linden Homes land section page will be updated when they become available.

Here is the map of the new expansion area.

Exciting times ahead for sure 🙂

New airstrip, boat rez zones and car rez zones added on Bellisseria continent

Brand New Areas Now Open

One of the early morning landings today

The Moles have been pretty busy over at the new Bellisseria continent this week creating new rezzing zones for the community to enjoy. These new areas include a brand new airstrip tarmac runway suitable for light aircraft which comes with a rezzing zone.

There are new boat rezzing zones next to the lighthouses around the continent and new car rezzing zones dotted around. More is planned in the weeks ahead.

Here are the rezzing zone parcel locations which you may find very useful to keep.

Heterocera, Sansara, Bellisseria and Jeogeot forms one super massive continent in Second Life

The super massive continent in Second Life

This week the lab added a number of water regions north and south of the new Bellisseria continent (new Linden Homes) in Second Life. You can now go straight from Heterocera to the Sansara continent (top) through the new Bellisseria continent (middle) then down to the Jeogeot continent (bottom) or the other way around. This means you can now fly, walk, boat or even walk between all four continents now.

  • North Side: Grand Banks, Lobster Pot, Marianas Trench, Magellan Deep and Albatross Shoals

  • South Side: Delby Depths and Harmonious Sea

Well done Linden Lab for making this possible! 🙂

New Linden Homes have officially launched

All Hours

Today Linden Lab have officially announced the fresh new Linden Homes with new themes and larger options. The first of several planned Linden Home updates launches today exclusive to Premium members apparently.

The second generation of Linden Homes are now finally here. The new continent named Bellisseria has 384 regions currently and it’s to set to get much bigger soon. The old Linden Homes will be phased out over time but there’s no rush just yet.

There is a brand new Linden Homes wiki page full of useful information to get started from signing up to get a Linden Home, home themes, house controllers and much more.

There Goes the Neighborhood (Thankfully!)

One of the many benefits of becoming a Premium Second Life member is access to an automatic waiver of the monthly land fees for a Linden Home or 1024m² tier allotment for use towards a parcel on the Mainland. A pretty incredible perk, but it was time to make it even perkier.

Let’s be honest – those Linden Homes from 2010 were long overdue for some updates and improvements. It was clear a fresh coat of paint and some new landscaping were just not going to make the amount of curb appeal we were shooting for. In fact, it was time to return to the drawing board and start a better-built Linden Home experience, from the ground up – literally.

The first of several planned Linden Home updates launches today – with the introduction of New Linden Homes – exclusive to Premium members. Your new home may be in the mountains, along the shore, or in a rolling landscape of low hills and river valleys, but you’ll also be part of a large community experience, with navigable waterways, a network of roads, and community areas to socialize and have fun

There are two new themed styles in this release – Traditional and Houseboats – and some are twice as big as previous Linden Home offerings.

Depending on the theme chosen home parcels will be either 1024 sq m or 512 sq m apparently.

Unlike the first generation of Linden Homes, which offered themed areas on separate Regions, the New Linden Homes blend themes across the entire continent. Depending on the theme you choose to live in, your home’s parcel may be either 1024 or 512 sq m. Your house might overlook houseboats along the ocean or might be inland in a traditional suburban neighborhood. Wherever you live, you will be within range of recreational and shopping areas and will be able to travel around the continent by car or boat if you wish.

It’s going to be worth getting a new Linden Home for the incredible views and infrastructure that has been built. All brand new! 🙂

New Linden Homes sub forum section on the Second Life Forums goes live

After weeks of waiting Linden Lab has finally added a brand new Linden Homes sub forum section on the Second Life Forums. In recent months and weeks there many active SSP/Linden Homes threads all over the place but now it’s been all moved to one handy section.

Linden Homes appears under the Land Forum when you scroll down the page.

Here is the new Linden Homes section showing the latest threads relating to the new Linden Homes project/continent.

Please spread the word 🙂

New Linden Homes & SSP Continent “will be announced when it happens”

On Sunday 7th April Patch Linden went live on Relay Rap Radio Talk Show to talk about the new Linden Homes project that the lab have been working on since mid 2018. There was a large inworld audience on the American Cancer Society Island and there was a live stream of the event via T1 Radio.

Most of the hour was about the Home & Garden Expo, Relay For Life of Second Life including future plans/events, Sansar and ways to reduce lag.

Guests this week…

  • Kaerri Rae – Home & Garden Expo Lead
  • Stingray Raymaker – American Cancer Society Staff Partner
  • Special Guest Patch Linden

Here are some newer updates from the radio show this afternoon…

  • The opening “will be announced when it happens”
  • Currently “one week past the original roll out date”
  • There will be four house styles to choose from. Eventually “there will be six to eight more styles” for Linden Homes – some 512sq and some 1024sq
  • The new SSP continent will “grow futher down South then East” where the new water regions are
  • It’s recommended to get a new Linden Home quickly as there may be a long wait
  • The old Linden homes will be going away and will be shut down. At least a year or two before this happens.

I think the launch will probably happen in the week ahead with more being rolled out before the end of April 2019 if all goes to plan. Easter is fast approaching so it could be a big surprise.

I will post more SSP updates soon.

VWBPE19 (Above the Book) With Patch Linden and Grumpity Linden

Patch Linden (Senior Director, Product Operations) and Grumpity Linden (Senior Director of Product) went live during the (Above the Book) session at VWBPE 2019 yesterday afternoon (4th April) talking about what’s new at Linden Lab.

The session lasted for 55 minutes with a large audience at the VWBPE conference area. There were some updates on the new Linden Homes continent, new user experience and inworld tools in this session but nothing major to announce.

Some highlights worth mentioning were these…

  • Linden Homes are about to come out which is a large project, structure of the regions are redesigned to be more organically
  • The new continent will grow in time, water expansions/connections and spaces for flying expected to happen
  • There are exciting things happening in the pipeline (late 2019/2020)
  • The lab are working on IOS text based viewer
  • Estate tools will be improving very soon
  • Lab not been focused on media on a prim recently

Q&A started at 30 minutes with questions put to Patch Linden and Grumpity Linden from the community. There were mentions of search, mobile, community gateways, groups and much more.

If you have missed any of the VWBPE 2019 sessions so far then you can catch up here.
