On 3rd March 2016 Linden Lab released a new press release announcing that Blocksworld has expanded to iPhone along with new offers using real money redemptions to creators. For those that use Blocksworld this is very good news because now there is an iPhone version to use. The lab will now be offering redemptions to eligible creators that use Blocksworld.
Apparently Blocksworld players have published more than 2.7 million creations along with more than 700, 000 player created models that are for sale in the marketplace. Soon Blocksworld creations will be available on the web which is worth mentioning.
“Blocksworld makes building games as easy as stacking blocks! Create dinosaurs, helicopters, alien spaceships and giant tarantulas. Design tanks made out of cheese and monsters made from trees. Make satellites and semis, cats, robots and robot cats – and then add behaviors and actions to bring your creations to life!”
See the full press release below!
SAN FRANCISCO – March 3, 2016 – Linden Lab®, the creators of Second Life® and Project Sansar™, today announced two significant milestones for Blocksworld®, the popular free build-and-play app for iPad: real money redemptions for eligible creators and an iPhone version.
Blocksworld makes it fun and easy for kids and adults to create unique 3D models, playable games, and interactive worlds using virtual blocks and drag-and-drop controls. Players can publish their creations for others around the world to enjoy, and they can sell the models they build in an in-app marketplace for Blocksworld coins. To date, Blocksworld players have published more than 2.7 million creations, and more than 700,000 player-created models are currently for sale in the marketplace.
The Blocksworld coins that creators earn can be used to purchase additional content within the app, including themed building sets and models. Now, eligible Blocksworld creators will also be able to redeem Blocksworld coins for real money.
“We believe people should be able to profit from their virtual creations, and we have a history of successfully enabling this,” said Ebbe Altberg, CEO of Linden Lab. “We’ve allowed redemptions with Second Life for many years, and last year alone, creators redeemed $60 million from the virtual economy. Blocksworld players have shown an incredible level of creativity, and we’re pleased to be able to reward that by now offering redemptions to eligible creators.”
Additionally, Blocksworld is now available for iPhone as well as iPad. Players will enjoy the same functionality on either platform, and in the near future, Blocksworld creations will also be playable on the Web. These expansions will make it even easier for players to share their favorite Blocksworld worlds for others to enjoy and will allow creators to reach even larger audiences.

Like a fable borne upon a mist of time, a magical, mysterious transformation is wrought upon the ancient dry lake bed we know as the playa. When the mist clears you see an alpine wonderland of mountains, hills and valleys.
Oh, but that is not all! As you draw in for a closer look, you notice something incredible: everything is small in size. You are surrounded by miniature villages and diminutive trains, with LIlliputian creatures and beings populating the scene. But don’t let their small sizes fool you – things are rarely as they appear.
Doesn’t that just stir up all sorts of things in your mind? Petites, Tinies, Micros..miniature camps and mini-mutant vehicles, the world goes small! Of course, we’ll have a fun little Burn, too. You are invited to participate!
Tinies, petites and other small avatar creatives are especially invited to be a part of this event, to build, DJ and perform.

On Tuesday 18th August 2015 Linden Lab officially announced a press release saying that a “small number of creators have been exclusively invited to be the first to help test its new platform for virtual experiences”. It’s good to know that the ball is starting to roll on Project Sansar now and it’s going to be exciting when Project Sansar goes into the Beta/Public phrase.
There is a small group of initial creators helping test Project Sansar that will be creating 3D content using Autodesk’s Maya® software and will then export their creations to the new platform. Project Sansar will support third-party creation tools and building options so that creators can work with their favourite software.
Ebbe Altberg says in the press release that “We want to lower the barrier of entry for VR experience creation” and this sounds like a good start to me. 🙂
“Project Sansar will allow creators at all levels to focus on realizing their creative visions, without having to worry about issues such as hosting and distribution, multi-user access and communication systems, virtual currency and regulatory compliance, and other challenges associated with creating, sharing, and monetizing virtual experiences today.”
In the months ahead Linden Lab will invite more creators and content partners to Project Sansar as the testing continues. Linden Lab will be recruiting engineers to join the team for Project Sansar. Project Sansar will be become more available to the general public in 2016 and that’s going to be most interesting when that happens.
Here is the full press release on Project Sansar closed alpha,,,
SAN FRANCISCO – August 18, 2015 –Linden Lab®, the creators of Second Life®, today announced that a small number of creators have been exclusively invited to be the first to help test its new platform for virtual experiences, codenamed Project Sansar.
Slated for general availability in 2016, Project Sansar will democratize virtual reality as a creative medium. It will empower people to easily create, share, and monetize their own multi-user, interactive virtual experiences, without requiring engineering resources. The platform will enable professional-level quality and performance with exceptional visual fidelity, 3D audio, and physics simulation. Experiences created with Project Sansar will be optimized for VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, but also accessible via PCs and (at consumer launch) mobile devices. Users can explore and socialize within Project Sansar experiences through advanced expressive avatars, using text and voice chat.
Drawing on more than 12 years of unique experience running Second Life, the largest-ever user-created virtual world, Linden Lab will make it fun and easy for Project Sansar users to create social VR experiences, eliminating the complicated challenges that today limit the medium to professional developers with significant resources. Project Sansar will allow creators at all levels to focus on realizing their creative visions, without having to worry about issues such as hosting and distribution, multi-user access and communication systems, virtual currency and regulatory compliance, and other challenges associated with creating, sharing, and monetizing virtual experiences today.
“We want to lower the barrier of entry for VR experience creation,” said Ebbe Altberg, CEO of Linden Lab. “Project Sansar will do for virtual experiences what WordPress has done for the Web: empower a broad range of people to create with professional quality and reach global audiences. By greatly expanding who can create virtual experiences, Project Sansar will also extend the value of VR to a wide variety of use-cases — from gaming and entertainment to education, architecture, art, community-building, business meetings, healthcare, conferences, training, and more.”
The small group of initial creators invited to help test Project Sansar will create 3D content using Autodesk’s Maya® software and will export their creations to the new platform. At consumer launch, Project Sansar will support a variety of third-party creation tools as well as native building options, so that creators can work with their preferred software.
In the coming months, Linden Lab will welcome additional creators and content partners to Project Sansar as new features are added to the platform and testing expands.
Linden Lab is also currently recruiting talented engineers to join the team developing Project Sansar. More information about working for Linden Lab, current positions, and applications can be found at lindenlab.com/careers.

BURN2 2015: Carnival of Mirrors
Press Contact: iSkye Silverweb
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 4, 2015 12 PM SLT
This year’s theme is about mirrors and masks, mazes and merger. It will be a kind of magic show that takes the form of an oldfashioned carnival. This Carnival of Mirrors asks three essential questions: within our mediasaturated world, where products and people, consumption and communion morph into an endlessly diverting spectacle, who is the trickster, who is being tricked, and how might we discover who we really are?
Classic carnivals, as theaters of illusion, upheld a very strict dividing line that separated carnies, cast as showmen, from members of a naïve public who were labeled chumps and suckers, marks and rubes. Our carnival, however, will perform an even more subversive trick — its motto is Include the Rube. The wall dividing the observer from observed will disappear, as by an act of magic; through the alchemy of interaction, everyone at once can be the carny and the fool.
With great glee and inspired excitement, we announce the upcoming BURN2: Carnival of Mirrors. The event will take place October 17-25, 2015, culminating in the Burning of the Man on the 24th and the Temple Burn on the 25th. Going into this season of preparation, the annual plot sale opens, along with the Plot Lottery and Juried Art Camp Applications. This year we will gift MORE free plots in the Plot Lottery! And prices for the plot sale are LOWER!
Get all the information you need about the Plot Lottery and Juried Art Camp applications by going to http://www.burn2.org and finding the link to the desired application form in the menu at left under “Carnival of Mirrors.” Read all the information on the form including the guidelines and Ten Principles before you submit your application.
Builder guidelines are available at http://www.burn2.org/Builderguidelines – playa aesthetics mirroring the Black Rock Desert are in effect for this event.
You can purchase a plot for BURN2 at the kiosks on the playa. In the spirit of the theme, your receipt will be in the form of a wearable mask. Prices are as follows, and we are happy to note the prices are lower than last year:
- L$2500 = 512sqm, 117 LI
- L$5000 = 1024sqm, 234 LI
- L$10000 = 2048sqm, 468 LI
- L$20000 = 4096sqm, 936 LI
Think about the mirrors, masks, mazes and mergers, let the word “Carnival” evoke inspiration in your creative mind, then come, participate, in this fiercely fun and fiery fiesta!
Please let us know when you have included us in your publications as we link back to online TV, magazine and blog posts at http://www.burn2.org/media_coverage . We would love to include you! Just email a link to your content to email@example.com , and we will include it.
