The eighth annual One Billion Rising annual event in Second Life will be officially happening on Sunday 14th February 2021. The event will feature a four-region stage where over 200 people can come together to dance, surrounded by art installations and more. There will be DJs and live performers playing over the 24 hour period. The 2021 theme is Rising Gardens following the international One Billion Rising.
For the eighth year, on February 14, 2021, men and women in Second Life will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and people across the world to Rise, Resist and Unite as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change.
1 in 3 women across the planet will either be raped or beaten in their lifetime. This event raises awareness of the issues. Every February in Second Life the community rises, dances and shows incredible strength. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Here are my newest snapshots below of the 7th annual One Billion Rising event and the Isle of View regions in Second Life for 2019. I enjoyed attending both this week and I recommend everyone to check it out.
The 7th annual Second Life One Billion Rising event starts at 12am SLT on Thursday 14th February 2019. The event will be held on four OBR regions on the map and it’s expected there will be a large gathering this year. The event lasts for 24 hours featuring many DJs, performances, poetry and much more.
The main stage is central of the regions surrounded by an area of art installations and informal exhibits. It’s definitely worth checking it all out.
ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.
Every February, we rise – in hundreds of countries across the world – to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face. We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable.
And we here in Second Life can be part of this global movement.
