Bellisseria Third Anniversary

It’s time to celebrate 3 years of the Bellisseria continent

Today on Friday 15th April 2022 marks Bellisseria third anniversary in Second Life since the second generation of Linden Homes were first launched on the grid. The Moles and many Lindens have worked really hard over the past three years to keep growing the Bellisseria continent so that more releases can happen regularly.

When the Bellisseria continent first opened to the public back on 15th April 2019 there was only like 384 regions. Today there are thousands of Linden Home regions spread over many themed sub continents connecting up to former continents. It’s been exciting to keep track of progress since then and even before that back in late August 2018 when the first 80 SSP regions arrived on the grid.

11th April 2019

A few days or so before the big opening the lab added the Linden Homes section on the Second Life Forums. The SSP? thread is still running today with 263 pages full of historical findings. It’s amazing it’s been active since 21st August 2008.

In early April 2019 Patch Linden went live on Relay Rap Radio Talk Show to talk about the new Linden Homes project that the lab have been working on since mid 2018.

Here are were the updates from the radio show….

  • The opening “will be announced when it happens”
  • Currently “one week past the original roll out date”
  • There will be four house styles to choose from. Eventually “there will be six to eight more styles” for Linden Homes – some 512sq and some 1024sq
  • The new SSP continent will “grow futher down South then East” where the new water regions are
  • It’s recommended to get a new Linden Home quickly as there may be a long wait
  • The old Linden homes will be going away and will be shut down. At least a year or two before this happens.

Back in late March 2019 the first part of the SSP continent showed up on the world map. Over the weeks that followed the continent became much bigger. See the comparison maps below 2020 vs 2021 vs 2022. Linden Lab back then said it was to do with a Super Secret Project they are working on.

During the past year the Chalet, Fantasy and Newbrooke sub continents have arrived on the grid with new areas to explore, more Linden Homes and a bigger community overall. Work is not completely done yet and further expansion of Bellisseria during the next year or two is highly expected.

The lab is due to announce details on Premium Plus by the end of May 2022 and maybe there will be more interest for Linden Homes after that. The next theme reveal may happen at SL19B which happens from mid June 2022. The release will most likely happen before the end of the year if there are no delays.

I can’t wait to see what the Bellisseria continent will look like in a year from now and even two years from now. It’s going to be triple the size that’s for sure and I will continue to keep track of new developments on my blog. Stay tuned for that.

Feel free to share your best Bellisseria memories from the past three years in comments.

Fantasy Sub Continent – August 2021 Update

Fantasy Sub Continent – 15th August 2021

More Fantasy regions have now been released since Friday 13th August 2021 for those that want a new Fantasy Linden Home. The fastest way of claiming a new Linden home is through the Second Life land selection page. There is plenty of choice now from traditional, houseboat, camper, stilt home on land, chalet, log home and now fantasy. There are more themes in the works but they are unknown at this stage.

The new Fantasy Linden homes look great with the river running through them. There are many crystals dotted about the sub continent along with a whole range of fantasy flowers. The bridges go really well dotted around.

Covendale

There are three Fantasy styles in this Fantasy theme including Amberbrooke, Mistbrooke, Rosebrooke and Stonebrooke. The prim limit is 351 prims and the total space for them is 1024 sqm. There are 187 Fantasy regions as of Sunday 15th August 2021 and more regions will most likely be added very soon.

New Water Connection

As many know already there is only one water channel connection to the new Fantasy sub continent at the moment. Dannielles and Glimmer Bay (now showing on the map) are the only two water regions connecting the log homes continent with the fantasy homes continent. Hopefully the moles will add more water regions around the Fantasy sub continent in the days ahead.

Maybe a water region on the east side of the Hanshin region would be great along with more water regions nearby. There is big interest in sailing now since the Bellisseria/SSP first formed almost three years ago now.

Empty Green Regions

SSPE2539, Toad Pool, Fairstone Quarry, Jacksprite and Mirror Pond are empty regions which show up on the map as dark green. It’s not clear at this stage what the moles plan on doing in these yet. It could be used for more new Linden homes, new attractions, new hangout points or rez areas.

There is more to discover around the Fantasy continent. I will blog again soon on new developments.

SSP Development Update – 26 March 2021

It’s been a while since I blogged about the latest developments happening over at the SSP regions and I wanted to share the latest updates as of 26th March 2021. The Moles are continuing to add more Stilt homes over at the Bellisseria continent just north east of the log homes area. There has been no ETA on the latest batch of regions for release yet.

It looks like the SSP regions have expanded again recently by ten regions just above the SSP2531 to SSP2500 line. At the moment these SSP regions are not showing up in terms of map tiles/visuals. It’s worth pointing out that this area of the grid is used for the Moles/Lindens to work on upcoming Linden Home themes.

  • SSP2521 to SSP2530 are the newer regions
  • SSP2531 to SSP2500 has been on the grid for some time now

SSPW6 has appeared on the grid north west of the regions above. It’s not clear what W6 means yet. I guess we will have to wait until after the Chalets have been released after SL18B (mid June-early July).

The LH Dev region and LH Dev 2 region there seems to be various developments happening. The LH Dev 2 region is worth keeping your eyes on as it looks like a shopping area of some sort.

There doesn’t seem to be much happening with the nearby LH Dev Final regions below. It looks like these regions are used for testing/creating new homes.

Stay tuned for more updates during April 2021.

Log Homes Railway Development – January 2021 Update

In recent weeks the Moles have added more railway track and more railway stations on the east side of the log homes continent highlighted in blue on the map below. It’s not yet open to the public for rezzing trains. The wait is almost over.

My last blog post back in late October 2020 I posted that the Moles extended the railway line from SSPE1162 to SSP1165. Since then the railway line has expanded through the middle of the log homes continent going east then turning up north near the new recently opened Stilt homes regions highlighted in red squares.

There are now new railway stations, rez areas, signal points, victorian tunnels, bridges, railway line crossings and much more. The Moles have been working on this railway development since early 2020 and have done a great job going through the different Linden home theme styles.

The latest new railway line starts roughly from SSPE1125 all the way up to SSPE1111 where there is a big loop around. There is a new railway station in SSPE1111 and a train on the tracks nearby.

I believe this is the end of the railway line on the east side of the log homes continent for now. I will blog again if new changes happen next month.

It’s worth flying over the new railway line from one side to the other side of the log homes continent seeing what’s new. I think you will be amazed at all the latest developments.

It’s going to look really exciting when the railway track finally opens in the weeks/months ahead along with new Linden homes. I can’t wait to ride the new railway soon and I’m sure many can’t wait to rez trains too.

Great progress so far overall and I can’t wait to see what comes next throughout this new year.

Stilt Linden Homes Planned Release Expected Today

On 20th December Patch Linden posted a promising update in the Linden Homes section of the Second Life Forums saying that the Stilt Linden home release is proceeding as planned for Monday 21st December 2020.

It’s expected there will be more than 3000+ Linden Homes released later on today including houseboats, campers, log homes and Stilt homes.

Delays are likely but hopefully everything will go as planned today.

Heed the big huge disclaimer at the bottom of my Flickr posting:

[Giant Disclaimer™ – if everything goes according to plan]

I’m going to clearly warn you all now, if you leave your homes and this DOES NOT work, there’s no going back potentially and you’ll be homeless.

I suggest you do NOT abandon your homes until we are absolutely sure the release is proceeding as planned tomorrow – we will not run out of Stilt homes for several days.

This is very exciting news for anyone wanting to get one of the Stilt homes in the new extension area east of the log homes continent. The wait is almost over.

Sty tuned for further updates later today and during this week.

Log Homes Expansion Map Comparison – March 2020 vs July 2020

Back in mid March 2020 I blogged about the new mass of regions added east of Bellisseria which turned into the log homes expansion. Since then the Moles have added thousands of new Linden homes along the new road networks, new relaxing areas, new waterways and a railway line that is still being worked on.

The log homes were released back in early April 2020 where Patch Linden announced that 4, 828 new Linden Homes were ready to claim. This was the biggest release to date spreading over 230 regions.

If you look at the comparison maps below you can hopefully see the differences between the both of them. The gaps are getting smaller and smaller it appears now. Hopefully in another three to six months the whole log homes continent will be completed.

Mid March 2020
24th July 2020

It’s actually been interesting to watch this log homes continent grow in size and see the development of it all since March. Four months later and work is still continuing around the log homes continent. Good progress is being made with loads of different project goals happening all at once.

First regions arrived back in mid March 2020

Going forward it’s going to be interesting where the new upcoming themes will be placed either to the north or down in the south. More regions are expected to arrive later this year when Second Life moves into the cloud. The lab have already started moving regions into the cloud (AWS).

I will post more updates very soon on the latest Bellisseria developments.
