2022 Home & Garden Expo In Second Life Raises $14, 711 USD

The 2022 Home & Garden Expo in Second Life raised $14, 711 USD in total donations this year which is excellent news to hear. All the proceeds will now go to fund the mission of the American Cancer Society. Well done to all those that have raised these funds, volunteered and took part in Home & Garden Expo this year.

At the end of the expo Kaerri announced her retirement as the Home & Garden Expo’s coordinator which is sad news. Kaerri has put in so much hard work over the years to ensure Expos run smoothly.

The 2022 Home & Garden Expo closed last week with a $14,711 USD in total donations – all going to fund the mission of the American Cancer Society. With 9 regions filled with exhibitors and a stage that featured multiple performers, the Expo gives the home and garden community in Second Life a chance to fight back against cancer in their own way. This event is the longest actively running event of its kind in the history of Second Life. Under Kaerri Rae’s guidance, the Expo has experienced a resurgence of activity and interest over the years.

At the end of the Expo, Kaerri announced her retirement as the Home & Garden Expo’s coordinator and is ready to enjoy some much deserved personal time. “We are grateful for Kaerri’s commitment for so many years and we know that there will never be anyone quite like her,” says Stingray Raymaker, Director of the American Cancer Society in Second Life. Each year, Kaerri worked hard to improve areas of the Expo and connect its patrons to the mission of the American Cancer Society.

Being the coordinator of an event this size is no small undertaking. It requires countless hours of planning and organizing ideas and people over the course of many months. Like all of our mega event coordinators, Kaerri volunteered her time to this community and this event for so many years, never seeming to take a break. Stingray added, “When Kaerri messaged me to tell me that she’d decided that this would be her final year as the H&G Expo Coordinator, she assured me that she’d still be involved in the future because the cause and the community mean so much to her.”

The 2022 Home & Garden Expo is now complete, but it won’t be long before we start planning for 2023. We thank Kaerri Rae for her years of service to the American Cancer Society and we appreciate her willingness to work with us as we transition to the next chapter of this long-standing successful event.

Second Life Home & Garden Expo 2022 – 26th February to 20th March

Home & Garden Expo Regions 2022

The upcoming Second Life Home and Garden Expo starts this weekend on Saturday 26th February through until Sunday 20th March 2022. The Home and Garden Expo is one of the most popular running events in Second Life. The goal is supporting Relay For Life through it’s fundraising efforts from sponsorships, contests, donation items, entertainment, exhibitor fees and much more. There will be loads of volunteers helping at this event so give them a friendly hello.

The entertainment schedule will be published very soon including discussions, talks and entertainment. The 2022 stores are listed here with the region names next to them. The expo regions (Hope 1-9) are located next to the American Cancer Society region in the east.

The expo offers something for anyone who is looking for new ideas for their new home from furnishing and décor to seeing the latest home trends in Second Life. This is a great opportunity for those that want to improve on their building skills etc.

This week Patch Linden has said that there will be no scheduled showings and are not part of the event this year relating to new Linden Home themes. See update here.

The Newbrooke theme, and the following theme will be released when we are ready to release them.  They have nothing to do with Home & Garden, we are not part of the event this year, and the Moles and I do not have any scheduled showings at the event.

Second Life Home & Garden Expo 2022 Applications Now Open

Registration is now open for the upcoming 2022 Home & Garden Expo event in Second Life. The annual event will take place on 26th February through until 20th March 2022. The Home and Garden Expo is one of the largest and longest running events in Second Life supporting Relay For Life. There will be nine full regions showcasing many styles and genres from furniture, landscapes, houses, decor items and much more.

Blogger applications have opened officially for all those that want to cover the event. There will be blogger access on 24th February 2022 for a early sneak preview of the regions.

The Home & Garden event team are now processing applications and will be sending out notices to all those that are succesful.

Linden Lab To Reveal 5th Linden Home Theme At 10am SLT Today

Today at 10am SLT Linden Lab will be revealing the brand new 5th theme for Linden Homes as part of the Home & Garden Expo 2020. The Reveal region near the American Cancer Society Island will open up to the public. Yay.

The LH themes so far are traditional, trailers, houseboats and more recently Victorian homes. It will be most interesting to view the new theme.

At 11am SLT today tune into Lab Gab episode 15 featuring Patch Linden and the Moles. Find out more about the new Linden Homes and SL17B preparations.

The American Cancer Society is excited to host the 5th Linden Home Reveal as part of the 2020 SL Home & Garden Expo. Residents are welcome to take a tour of the new Linden Home theme that will become available at 10am SLT on Friday, February 28, 2020. Residents can land on the American Cancer Society Island and walk to the Reveal region following the directional signs from there.

“We are always grateful for our relationship with Linden Lab and are honored to host the Themed Home Reveals,” says Stingray9798 Raymaker, American Cancer Society staff Director in Second Life. “We hope to use this opportunity as a way to educate the residents of Second Life that the American Cancer Society is here to help cancer patients and caregivers from around the world, and to give our Second Life community a means to fight back against a disease that has taken too much.”

This marks the 5th Linden Home theme that will be added to the Bellisseria community, alongside the previous 4 themes: traditional, trailers, houseboats, and Victorian. Residents of Bellisserria are sharing theories with one another in the Bellisserria forum and a queue of avatars has been sighted on the American Cancer Society island.

Home and Garden Expo 2020

The 2020 Home and Garden Expo in Second Life returns on  15th February to 3rd March 2020.

Exhibitors will have access to the region’s to set up their displays from 11th to 13th February. The regions will be open for preview for bloggers on 14th February.

The Home & Garden Expo is an event that seeks to support Relay For Life of Second Life, as well as its exhibitors and guests. Expo exhibitors are required to have two Relay For Life of Second Life 100% donation items at the Expo. These items must be new and exclusive to the Expo for the duration of the event. RFL of SL also benefits via the Gachas, where proceeds are evenly split between the Creator and RFL of SL.

In 2020, for the first time ever, we are also going to include a very small amount of Second Life fashion.
