Snowball Fight Arena 2017

SAVE THE DATE – RESIDENT and LINDEN SNOWBALL SHOWDOWN!
Holidays have traditions – the gathering of families, the giving of gifts, the food and merriment, and – in our case – the Linden/Resident Snowball Showdown! This is your chance to arm yourself with some sweet snow-slinging artillery, take to the sparkling ice, and attack your friends, fellow Residents, and some Lindens with snowballs galore! But, you had better be prepared to get pummeled in return, because much of the joy of the holidays is giving – even if that means giving someone a snowball sandwich when they are least expecting it. Join us at the Snowball Fight Arena on Friday – December 15th from 11 am to 1 pm (SLT) and prepare to get pummeled!

Winter Wonderland central

You really don’t want to miss this massive snowball fight this year. This year there have been some changes made to the race track and a smaller version of the Village of Light which is worth checking out. There are holiday gifts in the village. a Winter Ferris wheel, a ice skating rink and so much more.

SNOWBALL FIGHT ARENA
While the scheduled Linden and Resident Snowball Showdown isn’t happening until December 15th – the arena is fully loaded with snow, snowball arsenal and some ‘capture the flag’ type castles for you to get lots of practice and training in! Many an epic snowball showdown (and one pumpkin smash fight!) have graced these fair lands – and this year will prove to be among the most epic! Grab a few friends and family members, and make some memories!

WINTER SNOW TRACK
Attention thrill-seekers:this may be just the spot for you! Grab a snowboard and/or snowmobile from the nearby vendors and hit the icy slopes at high speeds! Swish and whoosh as you through the glinting snow tracks. Be sure to hold on tight as you race other Residents to the finish line.

ICE SKATE ARENA
Glide with the grace of a swan across the frozen lake at the Ice Skate Arena – we’ll even provide the skates –  free from nearby vendors. This romantic spot is the perfect place to take your sweetheart for a spin before some hot cocoa and a snuggle at the ferris wheel.

FERRIS WHEEL
The Linden Department of Public Works did an incredible job on creating breath-taking views all over Winter Wonderland, and you will be hard-pressed to find one better than the romantic view gleaned from atop the Ferris Wheel.  Have your snapshot finger ready, and your special someone at your side because between the lights, sights, and delights of the fireworks show, you are sure to witness some magical moments you’ll want to preserve.

VWBPE 2018

The VWBPE committee is now calling for proposals for next year’s annual conference which will be taking place from 15th to 17th March 2018. The committee “seeks submissions of presentation proposals along with proposals for exhibits and immersive experiences (pre- and post-conference virtual experiences).”

Proposals for exhibits and immersive experiences are now open. Here are the three formats for presentation proposals:

  • Hands on Technology Workshops (90 minutes)
  • Compass Points Roundtable Discussions (1 hour)

VWBPE18 VRevolutions

We are living in a disruptive age, where technology innovation has changed they way we live, the way we learn, and the way we interact. Innovation isn’t just a word used by scientists and entrepreneurs, it has come to describe our ever changing society. VRevolutions is your time to be part of that change.

VWBPE is an ecosystem of digital spaces. While the conference is hosted in Second Life, our conference features a variety of virtual and digital spaces. To present at VRevolutions, think outside the virtual space and consider how multiple available technologies and devices redefine what it means to work, create, and learn “virtually”. The VRevolution is about doing what scares you, what excites you, breaking and creating new paradigms.

At VRevolutions, VWBPE welcomes the multifaceted communities that contribute to and expand best practices in digital and virtual spaces to support practice, creation, and learning. Regardless of the community you represent, your proposal should consider how it contributes and expands the knowledge base for innovative and revolutionary change through the increasingly complex landscape of digital technology.

Call for Proposals

The VWBPE committee seeks submissions of presentation proposals along with proposals for exhibits and immersive experiences (pre- and post-conference virtual experiences). The call for proposals encompasses these three categories, with further details about each in the section below.

There are seven tracks and three formats. When formulating your proposal, we encourage you to consider the current theme of the conference, which in 2018 is “VRevolutions”.

We invite proposal submissions from a broad range of communities, such as, and not limited to, the following:

  • Educators and Trainers
  • Artists, Designers and Builders
  • Advocacy and NonProfit
  • Support and Help Communities

11 years in Second Life

It’s my 11th Rez Day on Halloween 🙂

Today (31st October) officially marks my 11th rezday in Second Life since I signed up. It feels so long ago now since I walked around orientation island / welcome area learning the basics. It’s been a long exciting journey for sure with so many happy memories along the way.

Second Life is still my favourite virtual world after 11 years because nothing comes closer at the moment. I still log in regularly, attend events, volunteer and blog a lot. I have met so many great friends and some amazing people in 11 years. Thanks so much! 🙂

Since October 2006 i’ve taken 26, 000+ snapshots on Flickr and I have loved sharing my unique virtual journey through the years with everyone. I’m looking forward to more exciting adventures ahead.

Another big step for bugs bunny lol
Happy Halloween 🙂
Looks spooky and scary

Happy Halloween 2017 🙂
