BURN2 2017: Radical Ritual Opening Day In Second Life

BURN2 2017 officially opens to the public today at 10am SLT over at the five Burning Man regions in Second Life. The event runs from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th October and this year the theme is Radical Ritual. This year there will be live music, art, fire dancing and so much more to experience.

BURN2 is an extension of the Burning Man festival in real life and every year the annual event gets even more amazing. Don’t miss the Burn of The Man on Saturday 28th October and The Temple Burn on Sunday 29th October 2017.

“Welcome Home!”
We say to Burners and friends! The spectacle of the year is soon to begin, infused with the theme of Radical Ritual, in which you will see interpretations of every kind.

“Reinventing ritual in our post post-modern world – disregarding assertions of belief and focus on the immediate experience of play. Play can free us to envision truths of which we have no proof or warrant, and breaks down the distinction that divides belief from make-believe. Whole-hearted, creative play induces self-surrender to experience that is beyond the scope of reasoned thought.”

The playa is filled with camps of every sort, and showing such a range of ritual expressions. Stages are erected, decorated and lighted, art cars and mutant vehicles tested across the sims. Burners from near and far are gathering and cleaning their various goggles, masks and flashlights in preparation for any sort of weather. The Lamplighters are checking their lamps, the Rangers testing their radios, and the dusty air is rich with tunes of anticipation and excitement. Performers and artists continually add more gifts and mischievously fun touches to their camps.
