sl14b-regions
SL14B regions have already arrived

In mid June 2017 Second Life will be celebrating it’s official 14th birthday and just recently 18 new SL14B regions arrived on the grid. Early preparations have already started behind the scenes for the birthday and it’s going to be interesting to see what the SL14B team/community comes up with this year.

No details have been released yet for SL14B important key dates, any open event positions or what the theme will be. I would imagine there will be announcements made within the next few months for those interested in participating in SL14B.

What would you like to see happen at SL14B this year ?

There are four months until SL14B takes place in June 2017 when Second Life officially celebrates it’s 14th birthday. It’s been confirmed there will be 18 regions for SL14B and that the performance venues will be larger than in previous years.

If you are interested in building the core infrastructure for the SL14B regions or designing the main SL14B attractions like the Welcome Area, Auditorium or Performance Stage you will be glad to hear that Infrastructure Build Applications for SL14B are now open.

  • Deadline for sign up is 1st April 2017 at 12 pm SLT

SL13B last year was very successful and probably the best one I’ve experienced for sure. I can’t wait to see and experience SL14B. 🙂

I’ll post more SL14B updates soon on my blog when they come available.

New Second Life community platform coming soon

On 17th February Linden Lab announced A Fresh New Community Look is Just Around the Corner!. The next version of the Second Life community platform will have a new look and feel to it. It’s been some time since the Second Life community platform last got updated so it will be great to see the new look when it launches before the end of February 2017.

Read-only mode comes into effect soon

To go from the current platform to the new platform the forums will be put into read-only mode during the export process. During that time everyone will be able to read the forums but they will not be able to publish new posts until the export job has been successfully completed.

Upcoming changes that you know about:

  • Between 21st – 27th February: the forums will go into read-only mode
  • On 27th February: the new Second Life platform goes live and the forums are no longer read-only

First mock preview of the new platform

Here is the first mock preview of the new Second Life community platform which will go live within weeks. This is not the final look however it looks far better than the current look I think

East River Community Going Through Tier Crisis – Tier Donors Needed

Breaking News

east-river-community_002
East River Community – (6th February 2017)

I have received word that the East River Community in Second Life is going through a tier crisis and they are looking for tier donors to keep East River Community on the grid. Indigo Mertel who is the founder of East River Community confirmed the news today via notecard, see below.

I hope someone can help and donate tier to the East River Community very soon otherwise it faces closure and it will be a huge loss for Second Life.

I have been contributing to the East River Community with large swaths of land at a considerable monthly cost for years. Many things have changed in my RL these past months and I am now in the sad position to inform you that I am no longer able to contribute to the community. I have procrastinated this decision for a long time because I was very unconfortable with the idea of dilapidating all the hard work we all put into building our beautiful community. But, eventually, I had to come to a decision.

We all want the East River Community to survive, so rather than just pulling the plug I’ll hold off for a limited time in order to find donors willing to donate tier to the group.

To anyone willing to donate tier to the East River Community, please contact Indigo Mertel.

Thank you.

The East River Community (ERC) is a federation of groups located on the Sansara continent in Second Life. It was founded on April 28th 2008, though the community traces its roots back to 2006 as a sailing friendly community with the MBYC Community Land Trust group, of which it is the direct descendent. Sailing activities are still part of the community charter.

The ERC offers to its residents and visitors art galleries, a cafe, public venues, nice scenery, a vast area to explore, horse riding on our horse tracks network, shopping and residential areas, music concerts, nautical and community events, a safe harbor for Mainland cruises and an airport.
