On Wednesday 29th July Linden Lab announced the shut down dates for Magic Boxes and Xstreet following the launch of the Viewer-Managed Marketplace (VMM). As many know already the automated migration process started on 23rd July 2015 and will continue until the final closure dates.
Here is the blog post announcing the shut down dates for Magic Boxes and Xstreet…
With the launch of Viewer-Managed Marketplace (VMM), Magic Boxes and Xstreet will be retired. Merchants who are still using Magic Boxes to sell their items will need to manually migrate their listings by August 17, 2015, when Magic Boxes will no longer appear on Marketplace. We will leave Xstreet up until August 27, 2015, so that interested Merchants can pull their data before the site is shut down for good.
In summary:
- Magic Boxes will stop working on August 17, 2015
- Xstreet will be shut down on August 27, 2015
For more information on VMM and manual migration, please see the VMM Knowledge Base article or check out the VMM video Migrating Listings & Checking for Errors. If you have problems at any point with the migration, submit a support ticket under Marketplace Item Listing Issues.
Download the new Second Life Viewer-Managed Marketplace release viewer here.
This viewer allows Merchants to manage inventory associated with Marketplace Listings from within the viewer. In addition to making management of Marketplace Listings easier, sale of items that Merchants do not have the right to copy will now be supported with Viewer-Managed Marketplace.
