Linden Lab announces new starter avatars

Today Linden Lab announced that new starter avatars are now available and this includes 24 brand new mesh avatars to choose from today. The new starter avatars have been designed to improve the new user experience during their first hour or so in Second Life.

Today, we’re updating Second Life’s default avatar options with 24 brand new mesh avatars. You may have spotted a sneak peek at a few of these as Lindens tried them out recently, and starting today, you can start using them yourself!

These avatars are designed to give new users a more appealing set of choices as they start their time in Second Life. Based on the most popular avatars picked at registration, these new options are much better-looking and take advantage of technology incorporated into Second Life over the past year (like fitted mesh and materials) for a more modern feel.

To get your free copies download the latest SL official viewer and look inside the Library section in your Inventory to see the new mesh avatars.

Join Second Life today to see the new previews.

Lumiya 2.6.2 small update

On 13th May Lumiya 2.6.2 was released with new improved mesh download speeds, reduced lag when walking and it fixed a crash with megaprims. The Lumiya app is a Second Life and OpenSim client used on Android devices. Lumiya supports mesh content, server-side appearance and it’s compatible with RLV.

Lumiya is the #1 SL app I think at the moment and it continues to grow in popularity with every new version release. It’s well worth the money to get the Lumiya app and I strongly recommend you to try it out. No hidden fees or subscriptions.

InWorldz 100, 000 total users registered

Today InWorldz officially hit the 100, 000 registered users milestone at 6:37am SLT which is a huge milestone for the community and sets a new historical record. Congratulations InWorldz!

When I joined InWorldz on 2nd September 2010 there were 12, 274 registered users, 96 users online and 499 total regions. See the historical milestones below…

Updated: InWorldz Registered Users Historical Stats

It’s taken almost 4 years to reach the 100, 000 registered users milestone and in another four years I would image InWorldz would of reached the 200, 000 registered users mark if rates continue as they are.
