Great news today is that Linden Lab have announced big news that Ebbe Altberg is now the CEO of Linden Lab. Ebbe Altberg has had more than 25 years of experience managing world-class products and services.
Ebbe mentions that he’s “absolutely committed to supporting our customers and helping them become even more successful. There are significant opportunities ahead, and I look forward to leading us into the next phase of growth“.

SAN FRANCISCO — February 5, 2014 —Linden Lab®, the makers of Second Life®, BlocksworldTM, DesuraTM, and more, today announced that Ebbe Altberg will lead the company as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Most recently prior to joining Linden Lab, Altberg was COO of BranchOut. Prior to that, he was part of the executive team at Yahoo!, most recently as SVP of Media Products. His more than 25 years of experience managing teams that create world-class products and services also includes leadership roles at Ingenio (acquired by at&t Interactive) and Microsoft.

My first thoughts on the new CEO
After two weeks of hearing nothing about the next CEO it’s good to hear Linden Lab have chosen someone professional I think with more than 25 years worth of experience. I like that he’s worked at Microsoft and Yahoo etc which is very encouraging. I like that he wants to be absolutely committed to support SL customers and help them become even more successful which so good to hear. Also he points out there are significant opportunities ahead and he wants to lead the way into the next phase of growth.
I think we need better SL communications, more improvements and growth again. There is more that needs to be done for sure and hopefully now we have a new CEO Second Life will change for the better. I’m excited to see what Ebbe Altberg will bring to Second Life in the coming months/years.
