This year the BURN2 team will be hosting a special April Fools Event on the Burning Man- Deep Hole region in Second Life on 31st March 2012 until 1st April 2012. There have been a number of land rushes in recent weeks and building work going on for this mini-Burn event 2012. The final countdown and preparations are underway for the grand opening. Contact: Emcee Widget if you have any questions about the event this year.
The big BURN2 event this year will start on Saturday20th October 2012 at 12pm SLT and will last until Sunday 28th October 2012 (12:59pm). Wooooooot!!!!!
Hey there Burners! Ready to giggle in a gaggle? Play jokes over on the Playa? Put your boots and dust masks and water together, because it is time for April Fools Day!
This is a mini-Burn event on BURNING MAN Deep Hole sim from March 31 to April 1. We have fifty 512 plots for campers to landrush and build on, make art, make a chill space, do a performance, or just pitch a tent. We will be LANDRUSHING these gift plots 3/17 at 0800 and 2000 SLT! One plot per RL person!
We open 3/31 with a special Center Camp, DJs and music, wild crazy events, pranks, wackiness, and fun. It won’t be April Fools without you! There are no Bystanders!
BURN2 is an extension of the Burning Man festival and community into the world of Second Life. It is an officially sanctioned Burning Man regional event, and the only virtual world event out of more than 100 real world Regional groups
The BURN2 Team operates events year around, culminating in an annual major festival of community, art and fire in the fall – a virtual echo of Burning Man itself.
We’d like to encourage you to use the following labels and hashtags when you write about the event: Burn2, #burn2 . We will promote those tags to make it easier for people to find your content
Last year InWorldz (March 31st – April 3rd, 2011) turned two years old in the metaverse which was really amazing and special. The birthday celebrations were hosted on four InWorldz Events sims to celebrate InWorldz reaching two years old. I went along to the InWorldz 2nd birthday celebrations and took many snapshots from the four regions.
This year InWorldz 3rd birthday bash will be held in real life this weekend (31st March – 2nd April 2012) in Vegas at the first official InWorldz Conference apparently. But nothing for birthday celebrations inworld it seems this year.
New episode featuring Flufee travelling to the old country to find out what happened to an abducted fellow secret agent. Mafia geckos & Flufee loves Boneville in a real comic bookstore. Great work by draxtordespres. AWESOME! 🙂

Today I created a new Flickr set called New Residents Regions if you are interested in viewing more snapshots of the New Resident Experience in Second Life. I joined TSL back in October 2006 and went though Orientation Island TG. When I reached the end I was teleported to the TG Welcome Area where I started my adventures as a young teenager.
Between 2005 – 2011 Teens had Orientation Island 5 (overflow region) & Orientation Island TG (active) plus two Teen Help Islands which were never used. The snapshot below I took on 31st May 2008 showing a busy Orientation Island 5. There were between 14-30 new teens at any one time going through these teen Orientation Islands. Today Orientation Island 5 and the two Teen Help Islands still remain on the grid today but teleport access has been disabled.
Today I looked at my SL blog dashboard site stats and was amazed to see that I now have 100 SL blog followers which i’m very pleased about. It’s been good to see the increase of followers over the years and I hope that more will become interested in my blog for years to come.
Follow my blog today! 🙂
Since July 2011 my blog has been viewed by 76, 046+ times and hopefully soon my blog will reach the 100, 000 views milestone which i’m really looking forward to. Check out my blog views month-by-month below. 🙂
Thank you very much for subscribing and reading my blog posts. Yay! 🙂
This week Linden Lab have renamed Welcome Islands to Destination Islands as part of new user experience changes to Second Life. Linden Lab have rolled out many different versions of help regions over the years to help new users in Second Life.
These new Destination Islands have a new feel to them when you first arrive. Destination Islands are Linden Realms themed and it seems the experience is even more simple than before. There are 24 Destination Islands which I believe new users are now being sent to.
There are 7 portals and when you walk through you will be automatically teleported. Once you leave Destination Island you cannot go back and the teleport says its failed.
Here are snapshots from Destination Island. As you can see the edge of the central hub area is surrounded by green Linden Realms trees and water.
Destination Island arrival where you have to choose from different destinations on themed boards. To visit you have to walk through the portals to teleport to the Second Life destinations. This is the first view new residents will now see when they log in for the first time in Second Life however there doesn’t seem to be any help tutorials on the island which is rather alarming.
A snapshot from above showing a massive Second Life hand and portals in the middle of a green jungle of trees.
Try it out if you are interested in exploring Destination Islands.
