Pathfinder Linden leaves Linden Lab

On Tuesday 9th March 2010 on the SLED mailing list, Pathfinder Linden posted a message saying that he will leave Linden Lab, as of Friday 12th, March 2010. Pathfinder Linden will still be tweeting and he will be following the SLED mailing list. It’s really sad to see him leave and all the best for the future. Another sad day I think!

SLED Message

Greetings,

Due to recent reorganizations at Linden Lab, my current position
(Evangelist, Market Development) has ceased to exist. There are no
alternative positions available to me, so as of March 12th I will be leaving
the company.

I am not sure what the future holds for me, but it will probably involve
something at the intersection of online communities, virtual worlds and
neuroscience. I will be remaining open to new opportunities.

I'll continue to follow this mailing list, since innovation in education and
healthcare remains near and dear to my heart.

You all are doing amazing work, and I'll be sticking around to see what you
come up with next!

Take care,
-John (formerly Pathfinder Linden)

The Second Life Community will indeed miss Pathfinder Linden greatly.

  1. I a normal sl user am finding the labs reactions to recent virtual world marketing as shocking. it kinda reminds me of a spoiled child. if the lab wants a exchange site its purchased. if the lab wants a social networking site the lab buys one. so if the lab wants customers they sack the educational researcher!. What message is this giving out to educators? I find it shocking to be honest. i shall miss pathfinder and i hope he can find a job else where. i know blue mars will be looking for educational researchers for there very own mission.

  2. Pathfinder Linden was one of the first people I came into contact with when first joining Second Life – was friendly and more than willing to answer questions and lend a helping hand. Gratitude and hats off to him for his accomplishments and support of the the EDU community in SL…
