InWorldz 2nd Relay For Life Season 2013
It’s been mentioned that a second season of RFL of InWorldz will take place sometime during 2013. In the first quarter of 2013 there will be a call out to the grid for more committee seats to be filled and planning meetings etc to get the 2nd season started.

InWorldz reaches 100, 000 total registered users
I predict before the end of 2013 or early 2014 total registered users will reach this milestone which will be a major achievement for InWorldz. It stands at 68, 650 total users according to the InWorldz Login Screen.
What InWorldz events will you be looking forward to during 2013?
Next year on 23rd June 2013 the SL community will be celebrating the first decade of Second Life which will most likely be the biggest event on the grid during 2013. From SL9B there was mention of more regions, exhibits and lots more happening to mark this very special occasion.
Next year is the Big One. The Tenth Birthday. And, believe me, we’ll be prepared.
Because it will be Huge. There will be more sims, more exhibits, more art, more music, more of everything than ever before. We’ll be entering double figures – and we’ll be shouting to the world that Second Life is bigger and better than it ever was – a place where we have claimed our world for our imagination.
Relay For Life 2013
Next year RFL 2013 in Second Life will be taking place on Saturday 13th July 2013 from 10am SLT. Relay For Life also takes place on OpenSim over at InWorldz where a second season of RFL is planned for 2013. The biggest event for cancer research supporting in SL and InWorldz.

Wishing all my SL friends, SL blog followers and blog visitors a happy merry christmas. *celebration time*
Ho Ho Ho!
Watch this new great video of the Raglan Shire Tinies Year 2012 which is really entertaining and highlights popular events from 2012 featuring tinies.
It’s been a wonderful year for tinies in Second Life during 2012 with so many good memories. Lets hope 2013 will be another happy and exciting year for the tinies community in Second Life.
Tinies taking over the grid!
On the InWorldz Forums there is thread called Physics test region selection/rollout informing everyone on the latest developments with the Physics rollout. There is mention of either a major or complete rollout by new years day apparently by Tranquillity Dexler which is excellent news. The Physics rollout started in early December 2012 with only a selection of regions having the latest Physics version.
Tranquillity Dexler mentions that the rollout continues on Wednesday 26th December 2012 to more volunteer regions and huge clusters of regions. Yay!
I will continue this rollout on December 26th to more volunteer regions and will begin to extend this to entire clusters of regions. We’ve had great results for days now in the latest versions and I think we’re on track for a major or even complete rollout by new years day.
The first week or so of January 2013 will be hopefully the completion of the rollout of Physics I think. It’s really exciting to hear its coming so soon and it will be another big leap forward for InWorldz in 2013.

Today marks my 22nd birthday in real life and i’m another year older. I can’t believe how time has gone really quickly during my teen-early adult life.
It’s now been four years since I officially transferred over from the teen grid (October 2006) to the main grid (December 2008) to start my adult adventures in Second Life. I won’t forget the time when I first arrived at the MG transfer station at Baffin. I met alot of good friends and went travelling across the massive grid of all things SL.
Thanks to everyone for making my SL journey exciting and special so far. It’s been amazing during the 4 years on the main grid and I hope for many more. :)
Recently Google introduced Communities to Google+ where anyone can talk about topics they are into and have conversations about it. It’s been very successful so far I think for SL residents setting up different SL communities pages. I’ve not heard of any issues/problems so far with Google+ Communities and it’s worth joining the pages to stay up with the latest activities from Second Life.
Check out these 10 popular SL communities pages!
- Second Life - 427 members
- Second Life Arts – 293 members
- OSgrid.org - 94 members
- Second Life and other Virtual Worlds - 76 members

This free version of Linden Lab’s shared creativity app allows users to explore and play with the entire Creatorverse galaxy – every creation made and shared by users of the full Creatorverse app on any platform. The big news this weekend announced by Jessica Lyon during a recent Phoenix office hour with the SL community is that the Phoenix Viewer support will be ending on Monday 31st December 2012. Apparently the Phoenix Viewer will then be removed from the SL third-party directory and Phoenix links will be removed from the Phoenix Official Blog. In 2013 Firestorm Viewer will be the default popular third party viewer and more new developments will continue to happen.
The reason for why Phoenix Viewer support will be ending is because Linden Lab will be rolling out server-side avatar baking in 2013 which should be interesting. TPVs have been told about this 2013 avatar baking roll out and hopefully the deployment will go without any major issues.
It seems like the server side baking rollout is at it’s final stages now with a timeline of 8 weeks according to Oz Linden via the Open Source Mailing List recently.
Oz Linden (Scott Lawrence)
For any of you developing viewers that are not in the TPV Directory and
so didn’t get the notice there….
We have now made available the code for our upcoming server side baking
changes – you will need to update to be compatible with this in order
for users to see avatars correctly once the server side change is rolled
out to the main grid (some time > 8 weeks from now, but no date has been
for information on this new code, and watch it for updates.
Tonya Souther blogs about this roll out here…
As Oz said in the meeting, the clock is now ticking. We asked for at least two months’ notice, and yesterday we got that. LL would like to roll the code out to the grid in February, but they’ll work with TPV developers to make sure we all have had the code and a good chance to implement it before they actually roll it out.
History of the Phoenix Viewer
- Transition from Emerald controversy to Phoenix in September 2010
- Phoenix Viewer added to The Third-Party Viewer Directory list in September 2010
- Phoenix Viewer Beta 2 in July 2011

What do you think about this major announcement and will you be switching to Firestorm if not already?
I have just heard today that the much loved SL Lalo Telling has sadly passed away in real life and he was a good friend of mine in Second Life. He was recently admitted to a hospice battling with cancer and many hoped he would recover alright. I really enjoyed reading his blog posts over the years and I liked visiting historical SL locations via his SL History page. This is really shocking and sad news to hear about his passing in RL. Another loss for Second Life and Lalo Telling will always be in our memories forever.
The news came from Ahuva latest blog post called In Memoriam which confirms of his death.
The gentleman known here as Lalo Telling departed this existence today at 2pm. He died as he lived – gracefully and peacefully. Emspar thanks you all for all the love and good wishes sent from the virtual world to her and Lalo. She asks that you observe her period of mourning by holding off on direct messages or tweeting to her. She is grateful for your kindness and support and caring but needs a time for grief and reflection.
Lalo – Your memory will be for a blessing. <3
December 5, 2007 – December 14, 2012
RIP Lalo Telling

SL News Alert
Today Fleep Tuque posted a update today on her SL Google+ profile page relating to some new hints about future SL conventions. I’m happy to hear that OpenSim and other platforms will be included which should be very interesting indeed. In previous years at SLCC OpenSim and other platforms didn’t really get a mention and now they will in 2013+. This year SLCC 2012 was axed due to changes in the terms of the contract offered by Linden Lab this year.
New mention about future conventions
AvaCon is planning to expand the convention to include Opensim and other platforms in the coming years under a new name and we have volunteer staff positions open if you’re interested, see AvaCon, Inc. for more info.
This is good news that AvaCon is planning for future conventions and not axing them altogether. However it’s going to be apparently be under a new name instead of SLCC I think. Volunteer staff positions are OPEN which applications be found on the official AvaCon website.
Details about when, where, who and a new name have is yet to be announced.
